Eleanor "Ellye" Sue Ovedia
March 7, 1935 - March 4, 2022
With a piece of our hearts and lives now missing, we mourn the loss of Eleanor Sue Ovedia. She was a resident of Miami Lakes, Florida, for 55 years, formerly of The Bronx, New York. She was the beloved wife of Mayer Ovedia, treasured mother of Howard and Nicole Ovedia, and the dear sister of Michael Cohen. She was cherished by extended family and friends because she was “Ellye”! With her larger-than-life personality, trademark “large, tinted glasses,” you never saw her without and New York accent, she was unforgettable. Ellye literally put a stamp on you at Lakes Postal Center (a successful business run by her and her husband for 18 years). She was the “Cheers” of Miami Lakes “where everybody knew your name.” She knew you, your children, and your friends because she cared. She was safe, she was open, she was loving. She was always there. Unfortunately, her journey is over, but her memory will never end. She will always be a part of the memories you carry in your heart from the time you were young until today when our hearts are sad because all you have are the memories in which she played a part. She loved fiercely and lived a life with no regrets. Private services were held at Levitt- Weinstein Blasberg-Rubin-Zilbert in N. Miami Beach, Florida. In lieu of flowers, donations to the following organizations can be made in Ellye’s memory to: https://usa.jnf.org/jnf-tree-planting-center, The Jewish National Fund, we suggest planting a tree in Israel.
