Martin (Marty) Block Goodman, 94, of Aventura, Florida passed away peacefully at his home on February 11, 2022. Recognized for many accomplishments, Marty was best known for his love of family, integrity and character, loyalty, and deeply ethical approach to life. Born in New York, Marty’s family moved to Miami in 1928. He grew up on Miami Beach, attended Miami Beach High, and graduated from Georgia Tech as a Civil Engineer. Marty left an imprint on South Florida through his building of single-family homes as well as commercial properties. Marty proudly served in the US Navy aboard the USS Missouri during the Korean War. He continued his military service for 30 years in the Naval Reserves, retiring as a Commander. An active member of the Jewish Community, Marty served as President of Jewish Federation Housing as part of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation from 1989-2019. He was also an avid golfer, landing 3 holes-in-one. With his sons, Marty travelled the world to play his sport. The family would like to thank Frank Byrd, Merris Tirado and Sabrina Kingfor their devotion and care for our father. Marty was predeceased by his devoted wife, Barbara, beloved sister and brother-in-law, Gloria and Howard Scharlin. He is survived by children Gayle, Rich (Laura), Jim (Charisma) and grandchildren Seth, Jared, Scottlyn, Noah and Maddox. Graveside service will be held on Monday, February 14th at 11:00 am at Mount Nebo Miami Memorial Gardens, 5505 NW 3rd St, Miami, FL 33126.
