Loved my uncle, he accepted and gladly bartendered at our wedding in 1978, from then on, just a great guy for not only a relative but a friend, his stories of Cuba, dwarfed by his tales of time in the Army, he loved this country, i am saddened by his passing, and will miss him, his energy, his laughter, his singing and mostly his company, to my TIA, my heart aches for you, my shoulder and ears are always here for you, love you !!!
Jose was a wonderful brother in law.a man that was always available to help anyone at any time. He has been a loving husband to marta and he will truly be missed by many of our family.Zenaida Gonzalez
My Dad was an immense presence, an energy that never quit. A laugh so boisterous and contagious. Always singing always dancing. He played hard, loved hard.
Extremely opinionated, we didn’t always agree, but it didn’t matter, because he loved me. He was a force to be reckoned with and yet melted around his beloved grandchildren.
I miss him, I missed him when he was here and now I will just miss him always. I will carry with me the best memories, there are so many.
Rest in much deserved peace, Daddy, I love you...all the time.
Pepo grew up with my Dad Richardo Meulener like brothers and I know he loved my Dad very much and for that I am very grateful....one of the fondest memories I have of Pepo is that one time when my family was visiting Miami he went out in the car with all of us kids at the time by brother Robert, Tony, myself and a few others.....of course we were driving a bit fast in the parking lot and he was having sooo much fun with us like a kid himself....then we went to get something to eat and we were talking and sharing about everyone including my Dad and Pepo had us all in stitches and we were laughing sooo loud they had to tell us to be quiet. That is what I loved about Pepo he was old enough to be our Dad but young at heart and enjoyed himself with us young ones.lol I enjoyed talking politics with him and recently about God.....I will miss you Pepo till we meet in heaven ...tell my Dad we miss and love him too.....love you....:-)Debbie Kovacic

I didn’t have the honor to meet José, but I know his wife Martha since we were children in Cuba and we have great memories of our childhood. Through Martha I learned about the wonderful person that José was and about the love and care that they shared for each other. José, RIP in the arms of our Lord. We will meet someday and celebrate together.
My Mom always told me that the heavens grieve with you when someone very special passes away. It stormed with the fury of thunder and lightning for about 15 minutes and, then, the most amazing rainbow arched over our building. That is a sign that all is well.
I have known Jose- Chuchita as a strong, wise and funny loving person. What grandpa Chuchi gave me that I valued the most was his time. I will always cherish with all my heart.
I want to thank you for being a male figure in my life and teaching me everything my dad didn’t.
You battle long and hard these last years and were for the last time a true inspiration for us all. I am relieved you are no longer suffering and I find hope in that you are now watching over us from Heaven. I love you forever and a day. I hope to meet you again in time.

I met Jose while serving on the Board of Directors at Point East. Jose and his loving wife Marta quickly became my friends as we shared love of community. We have enjoyed sharing photos and meeting each others grandchildren. Love of family brought us even closer as we share holiday gift- giving with the little ones. Whenever I saw Jose, I always got a great big hug. I will miss your funny stories, your artwork and your hugs.
Jose will be missed by a many! Family, friends, and so many acquaintance. He was a great husband to Marta, who stood by his side for over 40 years.. RIP Jose make more Rainbows for us!!
