Greenspoon, Adam. Peacefully, at home in Montreal, surrounded by his loving family, on Sunday, November 10, 2013, after a short illness, at the age of ninety. Beloved husband of Sonia Liss for sixty-eight years. Loving father and father-in-law of Annette and Will Strug of Halifax, NS, Gerald and Ellen Greenspoon of Hollywood, Florida. Cherished grandfather of Jeffrey and Robin Strug, Lowell and Elyssa Strug, Lisa Strug and Andrew Murray; Michelle Greenspoon, Cheryl and Jimmy Gutt, and Rebecca Greenspoon. Proud great-grandfather of Ethan, Danny, Ellie, Benjamin, Blair, Alex, Lilly, Leo and Mila. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Henry and Shirley Greenspoon, the late Renia and the late Felix Zeligman, the late Fela and the late Max Zolna, the late Helen and the late Marcel Cygler. Predeceased by his parents, two sisters and brother who perished in the Holocaust. Adam was born in Lodz, Poland, where he remained through most of the war, surviving the Holocaust, and eventually reuniting with his two sisters and a brother in Europe. He immigrated to Canada - a country which he learned to love for the remainder of his life - in 1949. He made Montreal his home, where he became a successful businessman and real estate developer. Adam was a generous contributor to the Montreal community. He was a past Chancellor Commander of the Knights of Pythias, Unitas Lodge, a supporter of many local charities, and a supporter of the arts. Adam was an avid golfer and was instrumental in founding Green Valley Golf Club in Sainte-Thér¿se, Quebec. The funeral service will take place at Temple Solel, 5100 Sheridan St., Hollywood, Florida 33021, on Wednesday, November 13 at 1 p.m. Burial at the Beth David Memorial Gardens Levitt Weinstein, 3201 N.W. 72nd Ave, Hollywood, Florida. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the "Adam Greenspoon Memorial Fund" c/o the Montreal General Hospital Foundation, (514) 934-8230, in appreciation of Dr. Steven Grover.
