Alan J. Baxter's Obituary
Alan J. Baxter, M.D., age 70, of Ft. Lauderdale, passed away on March 16, 2014, of natural causes. A memorial service will be held at the Levitt Weinstein, 3201 N.W. 72nd Ave., Hollywood, Fl on Friday March 21, at 4:00 p.m. with visitation to begin at 3:00 p.m. Alan received his degree as a medical doctor from the University of Miami in 1971, and worked over twenty years as an emergency room physician at South Miami Hospital. He provided many community service hours to the Fire Rescue Departments of Broward County and Metro-Dade. He was a member of the American College of Forensic Examiners and the Association of Emergency Physicians. He is predeceased in death by his mother Beatrice Levy Baxter, his father Alan Baxter, and his brother Richard Baxter. He was also predeceased by his aunt Joyce Shaprio of Ft. Lauderdale and uncle Marvin Levy of Chester, VA. He is survived by his cousin Farrell Levy and family in Knoxville, TN, and Virginia Levy of Chester, Va. He leaves behind his special friend Patty Ortiz, of Pembroke Pines, his friends Bob Duggan of Jacksonville, Howard Schachter of Miami, FL and Marian Chandler. Alan and his brother Richard enjoyed many years of collecting Ford Mustang parts as a hobby. Alan always had dogs as pets. Honor Memorials in his name may be made online to the Humane Society of Broward County. Alan will be greatly missed by family and friends.
