Alan Dorne's Obituary
It is with a heavy heart to share that Alan Dorne passed away peacefully today. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend.
Alan was born 3/21/38 in Brooklyn, NY. Growing up he excelled in track and field in high school and obtained a scholarship to the University of Miami.
He was a member of the 101st Airborne Division in Fort Jackson, S. Carolina, he honorably served his community as a deputy and Sergeant in Dade County Sheriff's Department 1959-1967 and was Mayor of North Bay Village, FL 2000-2004.
Alan received two Keys to the City of Miami Beach (one for coming to the aid of a neighbor after a crime and his second for service to the community) in 2003 he was acknowledged as a Founder in Mount Sinai Medical Center.
In addition, through the years, Alan was a successful developer of many different retail and healthcare businesses.
Alan is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Renee, daughter Robyn, son Craig (Susan), grandchildren Dani (Luis), Seth (Mara), Leslie (Desi), and great grandfather to Levi, Elias, Lilli and Liam.
He will be very much missed by all of those that loved and knew him. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Pet Orphans Southern California, which is our friend's animal rescue (petorphans.org)
