I worked with Alan at John Bowne H.S. in 1971 in the library squad. Briefly we were in touch a number of years ago from the website "Classmates" and he was gracious enough to respond to my message. I had hoped we'd get together for lunch had he been back in New York City, but it never was to be. He was a wonderful co-worker, and got a well-deserved award for his library services upon our graduation. I was glad to know him.
Very shocked and sad at the news of Alan's passing. Never heard him say a bad word or gossip about anyone, even if he didn't agree with them. Everyone will miss seeing and hearing him around the neighborhood - he had a bright, cheerful and friendly way about him that was all his own. A jolly and good fellow indeed. May he rest in blessed peace. Sincere condolences and deepest sympathies to his family and may they find solace and peace during this difficult time.
