As a high school friend of Alan’s sons, I’ll never forget his warm smile and easy laugh. We were always welcome in that home. He was a great dad and a lovely person, and I’m so very sorry to hear of this loss.

I had the good fortune to help Alan and later Alan and Karen with some trips to Africa and typical of Alan, he loved every minute of the experiences, even when things didn't go exactly as he might have envisaged, such as in the Namib desert one time. I so enjoyed spending time with him on the 'phone - he was a great conversationalist and interested in everything. Such a zest for life. As sad as his rather sudden passing is to all of us, memories of him will always help to brighten a not so great day. One thing did stand out: how thrilled he was after meeting and getting to know Karen, and clearly his last few years with Karen were some of his happiest ever. I am so glad that we had the opportunity to eventually meet Alan and Karen in the Dallas area a couple of years ago. Rest in peace Alan - the world would be a better place if there were more Alan E. Siegels around. Our sincere condolences to Karen and the entire family.
I’ll never forgot how much Alan loved our chocolate / peanut butter squares! He was so engaging and genuine and will be greatly missed by his friends and family. What a wonderful man <3
We first met Alan in 1966, when he and Shel started work at McDonnell-Douglas Aircraft. As we were all newcomers to St. Louis and newlyweds, we immediately became friends. For 58 years we have remained friends through job changes, moves, birth of children and grandchildren and all of life's ups and downs . We will miss you terribly, old friend. And your memory shall always be a blessing .
I met Alan a few years ago when he came to visit his son Jeremy in Dallas. Treated me to dinner and could not have been nicer. Want to express my condolences to the entire Siegel family.

I got to know Alan and Karen when we traveled together several times. His wit and good humor combined with a love of learning and genuine sense of gratitude made him easy to like. As heavy hearted as I am while sharing this, realizing I won’t be seeing him again…my thoughts go to Karen. Alan spoke to me of his happiness with her and my lasting memory will be the sound of them heartily laughing together while in The Canadian Rockies - I’m grateful to have shared it with them. The joy truly is in the ride, as I’m sure Alan would agree. Rest in peace, my friend.
I met Alan when I first interviewed at ATT in 1994 and worked with him until he retired. He was a true mensch. I have many fond memories of him. His memory is truly a blessing to me.
