Alvin M. Sandler's Obituary
Sandler, Alvin M., Passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning July 4, 2012. Born in Baltimore, Maryland on November 26, 1924, Alvin was the son of the late Celia Sandler. Alvin is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Harriet Sandler, his sons Mr. Stuart (Marianne Sabo) Sandler, Dr. Raymond (Rivkah) Sandler and daughter Ms. Caryl (Martin) Shuham; grandsons Jesse Sandler, Tuvia Sandler, Benjamin Shuham, Matthew Shuham, Simon Shuham and Chaim Sandler; grandaughters Dallas Sandler, Shoshana (Moshe) Reznitsky and Geena Sandler; great grandaughter Leah Reznitsky, nephew Steven (Deborah) Rolfe and niece Merle (Barnett) Kamen as well as many, caring great nieces and great nephews. Alvin was a wonderful, loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and was adored by all who knew him. Alvin was recognized twice with Bronze Stars during WWII for rare displays of courage and fought valiantly in the Battle of the Bulge. After the war, Alvin attended the Johns Hopkins University and received a BS degree in Industrial Engineering. He went on to earn his JD degree from the University of Maryland. Alvin had a long and distinguished career at the Westinghouse Corporation retiring as its first ethics officer. Alvin loved golf, swimming and working with various organizations. Alvin and Harriet were among the founders of Beth Israel Synagogue in Owings Mills, Maryland and Alvin served several terms as the president of Del Prado on the Bay Condominium in Aventura, Florida. But more than anything, Alvin loved his wife and family.
