Andrea Rosenblatt's Obituary
ROSENBLATT, ANDREA F., Ph.D.Born April 18, 1945 in Savannah, Georgia, died November 23 in Miami, at home, surrounded by her loving family. Survived by David, her loving husband of 44 years, Son Scott Katz, loving daughter-in-law Anne Katz, four grandchildren Josh, Sean, Jenny and Sam, and two great grandchildren. Andrea had a very special and loving relationship with her daughter-in-law Anne and her grandchildren. Andrea spent 46 years in the field of Education, dedicating herself to helping people learn, particularly in the area of Reading. She was an assistant principal and for the last 14 years of her public school career served as a Principal at Naranja Elementary, Gloria Floyd Elementary and Jane S. Roberts Elementary Schools. After she retired from the public school system, she became an Associate Professor at Barry University and taught graduate school in the Masters and Doctoral programs, in the Reading program. In 1995, she was diagnosed and treated for Breast Cancer and remained in remission for the next 9 years. In 2004 it was discovered that the cancer had returned and had spread elsewhere. For the last 7 years she bravely fought the disease with numerous chemotherapy treatments, but continued to teach, love and live life to the fullest up to the end. She will be truly missed by all. A memorial service will be held 11am Monday, Nov. 28 at Congregation Bet Breira 9400 SW 87 Ave. Miami, FL. Interment to follow at Mt. Nebo Kendall Memorial Gardens.
