Ann Joy Jaffee's Obituary
Jaffee, Ann Joy of Coral Gables passed away at age 79 on Wednesday Sept 23rd. She is survived by her sons Scott and Rob, daughter’s-in-law Robyn and Alison and grandchildren Lily, Zachary and Luke, Charlie.
Joy was born in Cleveland Ohio to Sam Blond and Mary Gindy. She was married for 52 years to Stanley Jaffee of Youngstown Ohio. Upon finishing his training at Merrill Lynch, Stan and his new bride left the established and familiar Dayton, Ohio for a far away city on the rise where they knew no one. Miami Florida became their home for the next 50 years.
Joy was an amazing cook, incredibly creative and the world’s best mom and Grandma. She worked as a schoolteacher, a full-time mom and when her boys grew older, she ran a small business creating gift baskets and center pieces for parties.
No one has ever been more aptly named than Joy Jaffee. She emanated warmth and kindness. Her smile lit up any room she entered. She never had a bad thing to say about anyone. Her favorite saying was, “If you have nothing nice to say, then say nothing at all.” When pressed how to respond if someone were to ask her opinion of their hideous outfit, she replied just say “Now that is a dress!” She was upbeat in every situation. Stanley often surprised her with dinner guests he invited home at the last minute from work and she would delightedly welcome them and add another plate to the table.
Joy leaves a legacy of love, kindness and generosity. Her family that survives her aspire to be as magnanimous and warm as she was. She will be missed but the sheer size of her heart guarantees she will live on forever in each of us who were blessed to have known her.
