Arlene L. Sokolow's Obituary
Arlene Sokolow was born on August 24, 1929 to Benjamin Libman and Anne Green Libman in Trenton, NJ, and passed away December 13, 2014 at age 85. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Arlene retired at age 42 after working as a Realtor, Interior Designer, Office Manager and Bookkeeper for over 20 years. She was also active in the family business, Gold Coast Supplies & Equipment for many years. She nurtured many multi-generational friendships in different countries and a loving relationship with her husband Marvin of 61 years, who passed away in 2009.
Arlene also spent many years devoting herself to help raise funds, awareness, and support for those in need of treatment and care at the Children’s Asthma Research Institute and Hospital in Denver, CO. Indeed, she supported many other local charities and her Synagogue with her time and resources over her lifetime.
Arlene is survived by her children Ronald Sokolow, Mark & Bonnie Sokolow, Debi & Jackie Keene; her grandchildren Marissa & Hugo Stangl, Matthew & Susy Sokolow, Brian Keene; and her great-grandchildren Sienna Sokolow (14), Andrew Stangl (13), David Sokolow (12), Zachary Stangl (11), Alison Stangl (10) and Olivia Keene (2).
There will be a service at Arlene’s home from 2:00PM to 5:00PM December 17.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the U of M’s Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center in Miami in honor of Arlene Libman Sokolow.
