Vicki Vigorito
Barbara was a real character in every good sense of the word, sometimes larger than life!, and successful in many endeavors. She loved her family, and loved her friends, but two things gave her the most joy: dance and Latin music. Even more joyful: dancing to Latin music! Her favorite dance partner was Mr. Mambo himself, Pedro Aguilar, a.k.a. Cuban Pete. Our friendship started when Barbara and Pete served as consultants to Edward Villella on his ballet, Mambo No. 2 a.m.. No conversation with Barbara ended without at least one demonstration of some really smooth dance move or intricate footwork…then her trademark smile and a big hug on the way out the door! Somewhere up in heaven, the music has picked up a notch, and Barbara is dancing again en clave with her favorite partner. We'll miss her down here!
