Barbara Kaplan Mofsky's Obituary
MOFSKY, Barbara Kaplan, 68, of Miami Beach, FL passed away on Monday, September 8, 2014 in Miami, FL. She was surrounded by family and loved ones. Barbara was born in Jacksonville, FL on February 19, 1946 to Dr. Sherman R. and Mary Rose Kaplan (Eskind). She is survived by her sons Russell (Kristen McLean) Mofsky, Michael Mofsky, and Jonathan (Kristia) Mofsky and daughter, Allison Mofsky; grandchildren Lola Faye Mofsky-McLean, and Luke and Antonio Mofsky. She is also survived by her mother, Mary Rose Kaplan and siblings Dr. Michael (Joyce) Kaplan, Dr. Steven (Nancy) Kaplan, and Helen (Sander) Genet. Barbara graduated from Miami Beach Senior High School and attended Washington University in St. Louis, MO. She was married to Professor James S. Mofsky, former Law Professor at the University of Miami Law School who passed away in 1990. Barbara was Vice President, Private Banking/Lending Specialist at Gibraltar Private Bank and Trust in Coral Gables, FL. She was an active member of Miami’s Real Estate community and was revered by her colleagues. Barbara loved to spend time with friends and family. She was a vibrant and dynamic friend to many and a devoted, loving mother and grandmother. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, Miami Jewish Health Systems, or a charity of your choice.
