Barbara Patraka's Obituary
Barbara Patraka, beloved mother and grandmother departed her loving family on February 15, 2024, at the age of 90 in Healdsburg, California.
Born on December 2, 1933 and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Barbara will be remembered for her kind heart, compassion for others, and her infinite love for her family.
Barbara was happiest when surrounded by her loved ones. Family meant everything to her, and she cherished the moments spent together.
Her sharp wit and great sense of humor brought laughter to those around her, and her passion for dancing was evident as she would move to the music anytime, anywhere.
Barbara is survived by her daughters, Jody Patraka and wife Rachel Schochet, and Rona Patraka-Greenstein and husband Howard Greenstein. She was a loving grandmother to her granddaughters, Brittany and Emily Menendez.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Bryant "Buddy" Patraka, her parents Essie and Michael Leibowitz, and her siblings Jerome Leibowitz, Millie Sommers, Reeve Fisher, and Stanley Leibowitz.
Barbara received her education from Abraham Lincoln High School in Brooklyn and went on to attend the University of Miami.
Services for Barbara will be held at Beth David Memorial Gardens on Monday, February 19th at 12 noon. The family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, a cause dear to Barbara's heart.
Barbara will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love, laughter, and compassion will be cherished forever.
