Barbara "B.J." Rakow's Obituary
Barbara (B.J.) Rakow , Born in Chicago, Illinois, Long-time resident of Miami Beach and Aventura since 1950. Passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2016 in her home surrounded by her loving family. Dr. Rakow earned her PhD in Clinical Psychology at the University of Illinois. She also held a Master’s Degree in Adult Education and Training Management from Florida International University. Before joining Right Management Consultants, Dr. Rakow served as Vice President of Marketing for Citibank of Florida and also as Director of the Dislocated Workers Center for the Florida Department of Labor. She also served as Training Administrator for the State Attorney’s Office in Miami. Dr. Rakow also held leadership positions in retail, finance and higher education. During her years with Right Management Consultants, Dr. Rakow advanced the design, development and delivery of organizational development programs for a variety of Fortune 500 clients in addition to managing the delivery and effectiveness of career transition services. Dr. Rakow had a passion for writing. In 2008, she wrote and published a book Much of What You Know About Job Search Just Ain’t So. She also wrote amazing articles that were posted on Hubpages.com and read and commented on by people all over the world. Her articles can still be read at drbj.hubpages.com. Dr. B.J. Rakow was the devoted wife of the late Allen (Rocky) Rakow and the beloved mother of the late Miami Beach Detective Scott Rakow. She is survived by her loving children Sherry Kane Superfine (Dr. Russell Superfine) and Dr. Joseph Rakow (Neomi Rakow) and Steven Rakow as well as her grandchildren Eric Kane (Robyn Kane), Stuart Rakow, Randi Marcus (Kevin Marcus), Beth Superfine (Jim Fremder), Pamela Smith (Adam Smith), and Erica Rakow. Dr. Rakow is also survived by her great grandchildren Erik Rakow, Madison Kane, Alexa Kane, Max Rakow, and Hailey Fremder. Services will be held 10:00 am Tuesday, February 23, 2015 at Levitt Weinstein Memorial Chapel, 18840 W. Dixie Hwy., North Miami Beach, FL 33180 (305) 932-2700. Interment to follow at Lakeside Memorial Park. Memorial Contributions in Dr. B.J. Rakow’s honor can be made to the American Cancer Society and the Disabled Veterans.
