Barry Ross' Obituary
Barry Ross passed away with family by his side on March 26, 2025, at his home in Davie Florida he was 84 years old.
Barry was born on August 19, 1940, in Philadelphia, PA. Barry went into the US Army in 1959 and then he attended and graduated from Penn State University. He moved to Hollywood, FL in 1978 to go into the commercial real estate business with his father Albert Ross (Ross Realty Investments).
Barry Ross was instrumental in the development of Pembroke Pines. Ross Realty developed a large number of commercial projects in the city. In addition, he was a leader of investment groups that developed, purchased, and managed shopping centers and other commercial properties in the State of Florida and beyond. In an over 40-year career Barry was a mentor to large number of professionals in South Florida and a friend to the industry where he helped to shape the South Florida real estate landscape.
In his personal life, Barry was an avid golfer, world class bridge/Gin player but the most important part of his personal life was with his wife, Deenie, who he had a loving relationship with for over 45 years and his children and grandchildren who he loved very much.
Barry is survived by his wife of over 45 years, Diane (Deenie) Ross, his sister Susan Matz (William), and (predeceased) Brother Stuart Ross (Ina). Children, Robert Ross (Melissa), Thomas Ross (Stephanie), Joanna Harris, Hal Cohen (Joey), (predeceased) Barry Cohen, Grandchildren, Jessica Cohen, Daniel Cohen, Robert Cohen, Alexander Cohen, Alexander Ross, Zachary Ross, Ryan Ross, Gabrielle Ross, Joshua Harris, and Sophie Harris.
Friends and Family are invited to celebrate Barry’s life at Beth David Memorial Gardens/Levitt-Weinstein 3201 N. 72nd Ave, Hollywood Florida 33024 on Friday March 28, 2025, at 2:00 pm.
