Benita Ruth Argos' Obituary
Benita Ruth Argos (Felsen)
Born in Brooklyn New York 5/7/36
Daughter of Teresa (Rosenblatt) and Harold Felsen of New York City, survived by brother, Murray Felsen (Beth), nephews Zack (Casey) Matthew, and grand nephew, Noah. Benita grew up in Manhattan and at only the age of 16 was offered a job as an artist by the Walt Disney corporation, but her parents were uncomfortable allowing her to travel to California at 16 years old. Benita was a wonderful artist and could oil paint all the Disney characters. Benita also worked in the entertainment business for MGM Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and Paramount. She worked for a company that produced program books that were very popular with big blockbuster movies like Thunderball among the big James Bond hits. Benita then moved to Miami Beach where her parents Teresa and Harold Felsen had previously moved a few years earlier in 1978 and got married to her husband John Argos. Benita worked for more than 30 years for the city of Miami Beach in the Code Enforcement Department, and it seemed that Benita knew everybody that was anybody on Miami Beach. She also ran for city council woman of Miami Beach. She loved to go out to the old hotspots like Joe’s Stone Crabs, the Embers Steakhouse, Wolfies and Juniors. Benita passed away at the age of 85 years old from multiple medical conditions. She was always respected for her quick wit and her attention to details. Benita was very smart, always dealing with high-powered developers in the city of Miami Beach wanting to get building permits for everything under the sun. In the last four years of her life after her stroke in November of 2018, she was cared for by her brother, Murray and sister-in-law, Beth, at their home in Miami. Services will be held on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at 12:00 noon at Levitt Weinstein Blasberg-Rubin-Zilbert Memorial Chapel, 18840 West Dixie Highway, North Miami Beach (305) 932-2700, followed by graveside services at Shalom Memorial Gardens in North Miami Beach.
