Bernard M. Bushman's Obituary
Bernard “Papa Bernie” Bushman 86, passed away peacefully on Dec. 14th, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.
He was a devoted and adoring father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was the oldest of four children and was predeceased by his two sisters, Phyllis, and Ilene. Bernie was born in Steubenville, Ohio and moved to Miami Beach at the age of twelve. He was a bar mitzvah at Temple Beth Sholom and graduated from Miami Beach High School. He enlisted in the army for two years from 1956-1958 and afterwards continued his education at the University of Miami. He and his father owned the Albion Hotel on Miami Beach. This is where he met his wife Elyn while she was vacationing with her mother from New York. They soon married and had two daughters, Patrice and Stacy.
Bernie loved to play poker, so it was no surprise he moved to Las Vegas and spent fifteen wonderful years with his long-time love and companion Diane. Three years ago, he moved back to Florida to be closer to his children. This was a special time and a gift for us all. Bernie is survived, loved, and adored by his two daughters, Patrice and Stacy, his son-in-law Peter, his three grandsons Dylan, Ryan and Blake and brother Lenny.
