Beth (Ethel) Birnbaum's Obituary
Beth (Ethel) Birnbaum, 79, of Parkland, FL passed away peacefully surrounded by family on February 11th, 2018.
Her funeral service will be held at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, February 13th at Levitt-Weinstein Memorial Chapel located at 7500 N. State Rd 7 Coconut Creek, FL 33073 (754) 600-4700.
Her burial ceremony will take place at Eternal Light Memorial Gardens located at 11520 North State Road 7 Boynton Beach, FL 33473 (561) 600-9218.
Beth was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on March 12, 1938. She earned a degree in social work from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. While there, she met Mel Birnbaum, and they later married in September 1960. They had three boys together and were married 35 years until his passing in 1995. For the past 21 years Beth formed a loving and caring relationship with David Mandel, a Holocaust survivor, and they have remained partners to this day.
Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends. She was very involved with Temple Beth Torah Sha'aray Tzedek and she was an active volunteer at Coral Spring Medical Center. Beth enjoyed going on cruises. She went on at least 27 of them. She also enjoyed sight seeing, reading, crossword puzzles. Beth was a master at Scrabble and loved to win. Beth was known for her beautiful smile, loving demeanor, incredible memory and her kindness to everyone she touched.
Ethel is survived by her partner, David Mandel; her two sisters, Edith Rashewsky, and Sylvia Pachter and her husband Sidney; her three sons: Scott Birnbaum and his wife Jude, Dr. James Birnbaum and Robert Birnbaum and his wife Jen, as well as her grandchildren, Jeff, Brittany, Jessie, Amy and Alexander.
