Beth Rubin's Obituary
RUBIN, Beth
Way too soon and before her time, Beth Rubin left this world painlessly on Wed., Jan. 18th. Born Beth Amy David on Aug. 22, 1957 in New York City, to Sondra and Alex David, she was older sister to Robin. Beth became a Floridian at age 15, attending Coconut Creek High School and, then, the University of Florida, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism. Beth dedicated herself to a career in the Jewish not-for-profit world, first at the Greater Miami Jewish Federation and, then, at the Miami Jewish Home and Hospital for the Aged. Her ambition was matched by her concern for the community and compassion for those less able. Her outgoing and charismatic personality was a magnet for people and their passions. Politically, she was a left-wing liberal and loved, loved, loved that she championed the election of Barack Obama. Beth…known affectionately as Nani, Sissy, or “The Queen”…was an avid Marlins fan and enjoyed all spectator sports. She leaves behind and bereft her mother Sondra, daughter Meredith (Nate Reed), son Matt (Grace), sister Robin D. Brill (Yaron); grandchildren Rachel & Lily and one on the way; nephews Alex, Ross and Tal; and, beloved extended family Andrew (Audrey) Rubin, Noah (Sarah) Waller and Adrian & Emily. Beth was predeceased by her longtime companion Ed Waller. Donations in Beth’s beloved and treasured memory may be made to Jewish Community Services of South Florida, 735 NE 125 St., N. Miami, FL 33161. A Memorial Service is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 23, at 11:00 am, at Levitt-Weinstein Eternal Light Funeral Service Center, 18840 W. Dixie Hwy., N. Miami Beach, FL. Shiva will be observed immediately following at Mo’s Bagels & Deli, 2780 NE 187th St., Aventura, FL. Arrangements by Blasberg-Rubin-Zilbert (305) 538-6371
