Burton Walter Gudwin's Obituary
Burton Walter Gudwin, 94, of Lantana, Florida passed away on July 26, 2020. He was a loving Husband, Father, Uncle, Grandfather & Great-grandfather. Burt, as he was know to Friends and Family, was born in New York on December 30, 1925. He was the son of Esther and Frank Gudwin. He was the loving husband of the late Sylvia Gudwin. He is survived by his 3 children, Andy and Stuart Gudwin and Donna Darnis; his sister, Hilda Gollin; his daughter-in-law Denise Gudwin, son-in-law Geraud Darnis; grandchildren Joshua (Buffy Hubelbank Gudwin), Matthew and Zachary Gudwin, Franklyn, Lauren and Audrey Darnis, great-grandchildren Kaylee and Amelia Grace Gudwin.
Burt was a decorated WWII Army Veteran, I Company 343rd Infantry Regiment, Technician Fifth Grade, deployed to the European Theater, and was a Purple Heart(s) recipient. He received an Honorable Discharge on April 14, 1946.
Burt was a small business owner in retail and building management in South Florida and an avid stock trader who could recite well into his 90's the NASDAQ ticker symbols and the daily closing market prices; he enjoyed fishing in his early years, enjoyed jazz and Latin music, and loved to dance with his wife Sylvia. They were season ticket holders to the theater and his life passion was dedicated to Sylvia and his family. In his later years he kept up with his fellow WWII buddies, attending annual meetings of the 343rd Infantry Regiment.
