Carol "Sooky" Halasz's Obituary
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Carol ‘Sooky’ Halasz who passed on April 23, 2025.
Sooky was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend to all. Family was everything to her and she was fiercely devoted to them as they were to her.
Widowed in her 30’s, she bravely moved her 3 children from Cleveland, Ohio to Miami Beach to be near her loving parents. She worked for over 20 years as a server and hostess at Mike Gordon’s Seafood restaurant before retiring to be available full time for her greatest joy, her grandchildren. She will always be remembered for her quick sarcastic wit and loving ways.
Sooky leaves behind her brother Robert (Bobby) Thompson, children Eric Halasz, Jeff Halasz and Debbie Taylor, grandchildren Melissa Cutrona (Anthony), Cory Taylor and Jordan Taylor. Great granddaughters Maci and Lily, nephews David Thompson (Lori) and Brian Thompson (Katie). In heaven she will be reunited with her loving parents Mollie and Murray Thompson, brother Morty and nephews Lenny, Stewie and Danny Thompson.
A funeral service will be held to honor Sooky’s memory Monday, April 28th, 2025 at 10:00 am at Levitt -Weinstein Blasberg- Rubin-Zilbert Memorial Chapel, 18840 West Dixie Highway, North Miami Beach, Florida 33180. Following the service and burial, the family will sit Shiva at the Cutrona residence Monday only from 2:30 - 8:00 p.m.
