Carol MacKenzie's Obituary
MacKenzie, Carol Jo F. 77, educator, musician, choir director & singer, completed her assignments on this earth with honors and has moved on, to share the joy of music in His Realm. She attended the Baldwin Wallace Conservatory of Music in Ohio and graduated with honors. After graduating, she taught elementary music in Cleveland for 2 years, then moved to South Florida. After a year of teaching, Carol became the music teacher at Hollywood Central Elementary, a position she held for 52 years. Carol was well known in the South Florida Jewish community having taught, directed and performed at Temple Beth Torah for 13 years and at Temple Solel for 38 years. Carol was dedicated to her faith and committed to her students and her family. In her years of teaching Carol exposed over 100,000 students of various ages to the joy of all types of music. It seemed no matter where she went, someone would recognize her and say; “Ms. MacKenzie, do you remember me? I was in your music class.” Carol is survived by her son L.D. “Buzz” Robinson and many students, friends and colleagues.A funeral service will be conducted at Temple Solel in Hollywood on Friday, May 18th at 3:15pm, internment to follow at Lauderdale Memorial Park. Services provided by Levitt-Weinstein, Hollywood, 954-963-2400. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to either Temple Solel or the Neve Michael Children’s Village.
