Ceil Messing's Obituary
Ceil Messing, 101, of Aventura, beloved wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2017 after a brief illness. She was born in Brooklyn, NY and had two brothers and two sisters who predeceased her. She met the love of her life, Max, at a party at the Bungalows in NY while he was in the army and they married soon thereafter. They moved to Miami in 1945. Max passed away in 1968 and Ceil carried on as the matriarch of the family, caring for her three children Roberta (Jay) Schapiro, Elliott (Faye) and Steve (Adrienne) and always having a strong attitude. She was a role model and an inspiration to all who knew her. In addition, she is survived by her grandchildren Marc (Melissa) Schapiro of Rutherford, NJ, Stacy (Phil) Marks of Austin, TX, Ian and Leah, great-grandchildren Jeremy and Morgan and the Freedman/Schapiro nieces and nephews who visited her annually. The funeral will be held 10:00 am Thursday, September 28th at Temple Beth Am, 5950 N. Kendall Drive in Pinecrest with burial at Mt. Sinai Memorial Park, 1125 NW 137th Street in Miami.
