Charles Benjamin Ganz's Obituary
Charles Benjamin Ganz passed away peacefully with his beloved family by his side on Feb 4th at age 67 following a valiant battle against Multiple Myeloma.
Charlie was a loving son, father, brother, uncle, and friend – someone who lived life with deep curiosity, passion, humor, and joy. Born in Long Branch, NJ, Charlie was raised in Philadelphia and Aventura. A passionate and independent thinker who studied Free Market Economics at Hillsdale College, Charlie moved to New York City in his 20s to begin a career on Wall Street before returning to Aventura, where his life was forever enriched by a thoughtful and beautiful community of family, friends, and colleagues.
Charlie found, embraced, and created joy in so many niches and corners. He treasured the deep and meaningful relationships he forged and nurtured throughout his life - most importantly, his relationships with his children, Aaron and Sara, his parents, Ellie (and Paul), Arnie, of blessed memory, and his sisters, Suzy Ganz (Howard Sugarman) and Amy Ganz Sadeghi (Mani Sadeghi) and his nieces and nephews, Ariel, Sam, Jonathan, Ali, Cameron, and Molly, to whom he was always the Fun Uncle.
A brilliant and insightful mind, Charlie was a master connector who was passionate about how technology could shape the future. Charlie began his career on Wall Street as a technical analyst and transitioned to investment management before committing his life to driving technological innovation out of Israel and beyond through the commercialization hub he founded. His strong commitment to supporting Israel and the Jewish community guided all that he did. Charlie was deeply proud of his Jewish identity and the South Florida Jewish Community. He served on many corporate and not-for-profit Boards throughout his career, but one of the most meaningful was his decades-long participation on the Board of Touro College, where he contributed to Touro’s strategy and ability to expand access to higher education.
With his cheeky sense of humor, Charlie had the uncanny ability to add levity to any situation. He found gratitude in life’s simplest pleasures - playing tennis, spending time with family and friends, opining about global markets and listening to music. Nothing delighted him more than seeing his favorite performers live - The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Led Zeppelin, Maroon 5 (which he had the pleasure of seeing live with his entire family just weeks ago) and, of course, the inimitable Billy Joel.
Charlie had a huge heart. He cared deeply for those around him, celebrated everyone’s successes, and showed up where he was asked - tennis games, minyans, birthdays, graduations - he wanted to savor every moment in life and squeeze out every last drop. He will be dearly missed by so many, including his tennis pals and friends at Williams Island.
He was taken from us too soon. May his memory be a blessing.
