David Conviser's Obituary
Cantor David Conviser, born on April 28, 1918 passed away on May 24, 2016.
He was a graduate of the Juilliard School of Music. He earned his B.S.M., M.A., and Honorary Doctorate degrees at Hebrew Union College School of Sacred Music and joined the faculty as Choral Director. He was a member of the Robert Shaw Chorale which toured extensively and recorded for R.C.A. Victor. He was a member of the Bach Aria Group and was Music Director of the Brandeis Institute in California. Cantor Conviser was Music Director at Shaker Village where he developed interest in the remarkable Shakers. He was a life member of the National Federation of Temple Youth and was on the faculty of the New World School of the Arts in Miami. He is Cantor Emeritus of Temple Beth Sholom where he resided as Cantor for 30 years.
Survived by his loving wife Eve, daughters Jamie, Susan Mattucci (Frank), the late Robert Conviser and several nieces and nephews. He will be dearly missed and remembered for his warmth and humor.
