Debra "Debbie" Buchwald Gaudet's Obituary
GAUDET, Debra “Debbie” Ellen Buchwald, 59 years old, of Hollywood, Florida transitioned peacefully July 28th in the early morning hours at Chelsey Park Rehabilitation Center in Dahlonega, Georgia, after her 4 year battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease).
Deb, born February 11, 1957 in Jersey City, NJ, graduated from USF with a bachelors in Fine Arts, and Masters from Plymouth State College in Special Education. She was a social worker, gardener, teacher, mother, daughter, wife, sister, niece, cousin, best friend, and advocate.
She was the beloved daughter of Stanley and Shirley Buchwald, loving mother of Ida (Brent) Williams, Annie Gaudet (Rowland Miller) and Scott Gaudet, dear sister of Danny (Misty) Buchwald and Marc (Marsha)Buchwald, adored aunt of Harper, Steven and Adam. Also survived by former husband Richard Gaudet.
She loved to laugh and bring joy to all those around her. A social butterfly, she celebrated life and shared her love through her art. Her legendary themed parties featured her musical talents and intuitive comedic timing (she loved impersonating Aretha) . She was an artist and potter and was utterly taken with moose and basset hounds.
She lived fully in the present; selfless toward the less fortunate, a leader in her profession, a planter of seeds who touched everyone she met.
