Diane Star Heller 's Obituary
Diane Star Heller, 90, passed away on November 16, 2019. A wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and philanthropist, Diane devoted herself to family and community. Diane had a keen eye for style and was known for her elegance. An international flower show judge, she created award-winning floral designs and took pride in raising roses and orchids. Diane served as President of the Miami Beach Garden Club and a member of the Miami-Dade Cultural Affairs Council and Miami Beach Cultural Arts Council. A patron of the arts, she delighted in supporting many cultural organizations, including the Lowe Art Museum, New World Symphony, Arsht Center, Miami City Ballet, Florida Grand Opera and Festival Miami. Her various creative passions included crafting miniature rooms and doll collecting. Diane, a former elementary school teacher, earned her Bachelor of Science in Education from The University of Miami. Her husband of 55 years, Daniel Neal Heller, predeceased her. She is survived by four children: Lisa Heller Green, Mona Kornfeld (Irwin), Douglas Paul Heller (Jane Gilbert) and Brian Lewis Heller (Jennifer); nine grandchildren: Michael (Jessica), Abel and Staci Green, David (Lilian Haney) and Susan Kornfeld, Lauren and Myles Heller, and Blythe and Gavin Heller; and great-granddaughter, Maia Green. Services will be held on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Temple Emanu-El, 1701 Washington Avenue, Miami Beach. Donations may be made in her memory to New World Symphony and Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts.
