Dianne Weiss Raulson's Obituary
Dianne Weiss Raulson passed away November 10, 2023 peacefully in her sleep.
She is survived by her brother, Donald J. Weiss (Merle); his four sons, Robert, Michael, Gregory and Stephen; her nephew, Jeffrey S. Weiss (Sandra) and daughter Alexandra; niece, Tammy Weiss Young and her daughters, Emerson E. Igoe and Gina V. Igoe; niece, Cindy W. Atherholt (Rob) and her daughter, Jennifer C. Laws and her daughter, Scout
The legacy she left is deep and far reaching. Although she never had children of her own, she had more “family” than many people with generations of relatives. Her friends were the most important part of her life after her own family. They represented all nationalities, races, religions and political parties.
She was born in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. She spent her teen years in Denver, Colorado. As a young adult, Dianne moved to California. Eventually, she moved east, to Washington, D.C., where she worked for Jimmy Hoffa Jr. in the Teamsters Union.
Over time, she took her talents to the metropolitan Miami area in Florida. While living in North Miami Beach, Dianne involved herself in many different causes; some social, some cultural, some political, and touched many people’s lives.
Her many accomplishments and achievements included:
Co-founder of Miami-Dade Days Inc., along with Bob Levy,
Coordinator of the Coconut Grove Arts Festival,
Facilitator of and fundraiser for the New World School of the Arts Dance Festival,
Investigated the feasibility of using recycled rubber to surface playgrounds and ball fields,
Worked with the Association for the Blind,
Trustee for North Miami Beach Police and Fire Retirement Board,
Commissioner for North Miami Beach Public Utilities Commission,
Commissioner for Miami-Dade County Fire Board,
Co-Owner of a water filtration system and commercial supply business,
Candidate for Councilwoman of North Miami Beach.
On top of these extraordinary accomplishments, she was a passionate animal lover.
In her life, love and endeavors, she never gave less than 100%.
