Dolores Gordon's Obituary
Gordon, Dolores Burnstein – Our community sadly lost a pillar on September 22, 2021, when Dolores Gordon of Aventura, FL, passed away peacefully.
Dolores is survived by her beloved children; son, Mark (Ana Maria), daughters, Nancy Platt, and Sandy (Gaetan Cormier), her five grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, her sister, Florence Wittert, and her adored nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Bernard (Bernie), and her sister Gene Marco. Dolores was born in Chicago, IL on January 14, 1927, where at the age of 17, she met the love of her life, Bernie, on a blind date on New Year’s Eve. For more than 72 years, they enjoyed spending as much time together as possible and dedicated much of their life to helping others.
They traveled the world together and eventually settled down in Florida where Dolores and Bernie became volunteer assistant teachers at Highland Oaks Elementary School. As advocates for those less fortunate they were appointed Guardian Ad Litem where they helped children alleged to be abused, abandoned, or neglected in foster homes. They spent countless years volunteering at the Aventura police department and the Aventura hospital. Dolores was always generous of her time and lived a life of compassion that was devoted to giving. Her legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone who knew her.
