Doris Olesky's Obituary
Doris Olesky of Bay Harbor Islands passed away on Sunday, January 19th at the age of 100. Doris was born in the Bronx to Herman Jacobs and Mary Greenspan and was the youngest sister to Pauline, Mildred, and Lillian. She graduated Georgian Court College in Lakewood, NJ in 1940. Doris is predeceased by Henry “Hank” Olesky, her husband of nearly 50 years. Doris was a revered teacher at Biscayne Elementary and at Bay Harbor Elementary. She also partnered with her sister Lillian as owners of Melony’s Wardrobe, a children’s clothing store. At age 60, Doris earned a Master’s degree in Education from Florida International University before returning to active teaching. She loved writing poetry for special events like weddings and birthdays. Doris is survived by her four children: Carol, Marc, Roy (Kathleen), and Ralph (Stephanie); grandchildren: Steven (Jennah), Meredith (Paul), George, David, Kara, Lauren (Zack), and Julie; great grandchildren: Lucy and Henry. The family suggests donations in memory of Doris Olesky to Temple Beth Sholom, www.tbsmb.org. She was a longstanding member of Temple Beth Shalom in Miami Beach, where funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2019 at 11:00 am, followed by internment at Mt Nebo-Miami Cemetery.
