Edison "Eddy" Pacheco 's Obituary
Edison Pacheco lived life to the fullest—his way and with his own style. When he made up his mind to do something he did it. Whether it was turning $1500 worth of retread tires in the back of his old truck into three stores and a tire distributorship or getting the girl and winning over her disapproving mother, he did it. Born in Ecuador and raised by both his beloved aunt and uncle, his Mami Marta and his Papi Victor, and his mother, Amalia, Eddy came to America as a very little boy and settled in Miami Beach where he fit in and thrived. Along the way he made lifelong friends, all of whom are grieving with us. In high school he made a fortuitous choice when he started working at Karlin Drugs where he met the love of his life, Charlene Rifkin. They dated for nine years before he convinced her mother Helen that he was the right guy for her daughter. They got married and would have celebrated their 34th wedding anniversary on June 23rd. Eddy joined forces with his high school friend, Michael Cohen, and together they built Family Tire into the major South Florida business it is today. The business is named Family Tire because nothing was more important to Eddy than his family. He was over the moon when his two sons, Jarrett and Eric, were born in 1987 and 1990, respectively. He could not have been happier when Ashley joined the family, and the engagement and upcoming wedding of Eric and Ashley was something he never stopped talking about. Pictures of Eddy on the day Jarrett received his veterinary medicine degree and became Doctor Jarrett Pacheco reflect how proud he was of “his son, the doctor.” Eddy’s sudden and untimely passing has stunned us all. He was beloved by his adoring and heartbroken love, Charlene Rifkin Pacheco, his loving sons, Jarrett and Eric, his almost daughter-in-law, Ashley Kaminoff, his adoring mother, Amalia Naranjo, his loving sister, Monica Naranjo (Jim), his brother, Milton Pacheco (Gail) and his sister, Lucy Pacheco, his mother-in-law Helen Rifkin (who liked him best), his sisters-in-law, Abbe Rifkin Logan, Brenda Faiber, and Monica Farrell Rifkin, his brothers-in-law, Scott Logan and Steven Rifkin, his nieces, Jennah Logan Siegel, Lindsie Logan, Robyn Rifkin, Susan St. Amand, and Johanna Vega, his nephews, Justin Faiber, Jared Siegel, Tom Mullane, David St. Amand, and Hector Vega, and his great-niece and great-nephew, Sadie Siegel and Jacob St. Amand. He leaves behind a host of close friends, including Irene and Barry Stark, Nancy and Michael Cohen, Lori and Alan Ginsberg, the Brooks family, and so many others too numerous to name. Finally, he will be missed by his buddy, his dog Jojo, who was his constant companion. Eddy is with Rusty and Kitty now, who have joined him across the Rainbow Bridge.
