Edith Hyman's Obituary
Edith Hyman of Aventura, FL, formerly of New York City, died peacefully on Monday September 4th, 2017 at Aventura Hospital & Medical Center. She was 92.
Edith was born in 1925 in Duisburg-Hamborn, Germany, to Elias Goldfarb and Lina Jackel of Poland. At age 14, Edith, and her younger brother Bernard, age 10, escaped Nazi persecution via illegal entry into Holland (Nijmegen, later Amsterdam). They fled Holland in May 1940 travelling to England by ship. In 1945 she married Otto Heimann [Robert Hyman] who was a designer and manufacturer of handbags. They left England in 1949 for Canada, living briefly in Montreal, where their daughter Linda was born, before moving to New York City where they were established for several years before retiring in Aventura, FL.
Edith will be greatly missed. She will be remembered for her strong will, zest for life, and tremendous sense of elegance and style. She is pre-deceased by her parents, her husband, her daughter, and her youngest brother Leo. She is survived by her brother Bernard, her nephews Marc and Grant, her great nephews Zachary, Jacob, Benjamin, and her great niece Lauren.
Funeral services will take place on September 27th, 2017, at 2 pm, at Levitt-Weinstein / Beth David Memorial Gardens 3201 N 72nd Ave, Hollywood, FL 33024, USA, followed by a private reception. Memorial donations may be made in Edith’s name to the Israel Cancer Research Fund.
