Edward Leonard Batoff's Obituary
Edward Leonard Batoff
November 29, 1936 – October 29, 2023
Edward Batoff, beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on Sunday in Aventura, Florida, a month shy of his 87th birthday.
Edward married the love of his life, Marlene Batoff, in 1966. Theirs was a true love affair, and they enjoyed dancing and traveling the world together. They had two children, Evan and Lainie, and raised their family in Hollywood, Florida, after moving from New York City in 1973.
Edward was born in Philadelphia, where he grew up with his sister, Gloria, and his brother, Martin. After receiving his undergraduate degree from Temple University, he graduated from law school at The University of Pennsylvania, where he was an Editor on the Law Review. He never practiced law and instead followed his passion for the stock market, working on Wall Street for many years. Always ahead of his time, Edward continued to work for the Wall Street firm of Weiss, Peck & Greer from an office in his house in Hollywood, decades before working from home became commonplace.
Edward had many hobbies. At various times in his life he pursued his passions for golf, tennis, bridge, photography, astronomy, and ballroom dancing, and he was always an avid reader. He loved traveling with his family and exploring the world with his beloved Marlene. He had many friends who appreciated his great sense of humor and wit. He was generous, kind, brilliant, and loyal, and he will truly be missed by his family and friends.
Edward is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marlene; his children, Evan and Lainie; four grandchildren he adored, Nicholas, Emma, Brett, and Josie; sister Gloria, and son-in-law and daughter-in-law, Thierry and Dana.
There will be a service honoring and remembering Edward on November 12, 2023, at 2:00 P.M. at Levitt-Weinstein Memorial Chapel, 3201 N.W. 72nd Avenue in Hollywood, Florida.
