Elaine "Dusty" Weiss' Obituary
WEISS, Elaine ‘Dusty’, 71, of Miami Beach, Florida and Lords Valley, PA, passed away peacefully in her sleep, Monday, May 25, 2015, after waging a long, loosing battle, with PSP, Progressive Supranuclear Palsy.
‘Dusty’, as Elaine preferred to be called, was always proud and energetic when it came to the time and years she spent on the Board of Directors the Coconut Grove Art Festival. ‘Dusty’ was an avid volunteer of ORT, Planned Parenthood and one of those involved in the setting up of the New World Symphony.
In her everyday life, prior to her illness, Dusty was the corporate Special Events Manager of the 54 Burdines stores throughout Florida. She was also a part owner of FABULOUS BASKETS.
An award winning Graduate of the University of Miami School of Education, with a major in Art Education, Dusty leaves behind a husband, Dr. Samuel Weiss; children: Sherry Baloff-Tillman, (husband, Herb Tillman), Marcy Baloff-Muralles, (husband, William Muralles), step-children; Judi Weiss-Chislov, (husband, Vadim Chislov), Arnie Weiss, (wife, Silvia Lattova), Robbie Weiss, (wife, Hedi Truss); five grandchildren, Monika Chislov, Lee Tillman, Todd Muralles, Adam Muralles, and Tivon Weiss; and many other family and friends.
Dusty was a long time member of Temple Beth Shalom and LaGorce Country Club, Miami Beach. During her college days, Dusty was a sister of the SDT sorority.
In keeping with Dusty’s wishes, her wardrobe will be donated to the woman’s organization, DRESS FOR SUCCESS.
In lieu of flowers, donations should be made in Dusty’s memory to the CUREPSP Foundation, (30 E. Padonia Road, Timonium, MD 21093, www.curepsp.org).
Funeral service on Thursday, May 28th at 11:30 am at Temple Beth Sholom, 4144 Chase Avenue, Miami Beach, 33140, with burial to follow at 2:15 pm at the South Florida National Cemetery, Lake Worth, Florida.
