Cousin Ellye was my mother Marilyn Sivers first cousin. They spent very happy summers in the Rockaways with Ellyes beloved mother Rose.
She was a wonderful daughter and very full of life. So sorry to learn of her passing.
Nic – One of the things we bonded over early in our friendship was that we both came from quintessential New York mothers. Your mom was a huge personality – from the glamorous glasses to the hairstyle to the way she told it like it was. I can’t remember the exact context, but I remember her saying “I won’t be buried in a bikini.” The message was to live life to the fullest as your authentic self. You can take care of yourself and look good, but don’t get too caught up in trying to live a perfect life. She and your Dad built a beautiful “framily” – where your friends were considered family. It was always fun to be around them and listen to their banter. It was so obvious how much they loved each other, and how they loved you and Howie…and your dogs…so much and unconditionally. I can only imagine what a huge loss you all must feel. I hope that the lifetime of love and memories brings you all comfort during this difficult time. Your mom’s zest for life, and loving and welcoming nature will live on in you always.
My heart is so heavy for the friendship that was outstanding for 65 years, we had the best of times in Europe Israel and in forever. Never ever a cross word between us agreed on everything,.
It was so good and you will be missed and cherished forever.

Dear family and friends,,
Ellye and I were always able to be open and honest with one another. We shared good times and bad times. She was a terrific cousin to have in my life.

Ellye was a second mom to all of Nikki and Susan’s friends as well as plenty of Howie’s! She always had such a great smile and was so happy to see you she made you feel right at home. I remember when they started Miami Lakes Postal-I loved going in there to see Ellye and Mayer. I will always remember her as a beloved member of our extended family. She will be missed greatly. 💔
So sad and hard losing Ellye (goodle) my second mom and another grandma for my children

I loved Ellye as if she was my own mom!! I always looked for her advice and loved that I was welcome into this family since Nikki and I met in second grade. We all have a lifetime of memories together that will always stay close to my heart! I will miss her every day!! Your family was blessed with one of the best!! I love you all always❤️
Mom,
You brought me into this world, and I had the honor to watch you exit in peace. It has been a privilege to be your daughter and the inheritor of your beauty, strength, wisdom, and love. During your final hours, I said “Mom, I love you and as you struggled to share your signature reply, you managed to say “I love you more”.
This love poem below is my favorite. It was originally written for a lover but over the years it is interpreted for any type of relationship.
I go you go, my dear; and whatever is done by only me is your doing, my darling)
I fear no fate (for you are my fate, my sweet)I want no world (for beautiful you are my world, my true) and it's you are whatever a moon has always meant and whatever a sun will always sing is you
here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide) and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart
I carry your heart (I carry it in my heart)” ― E.E. Cummings
For the rest of my life, I will carry your heart and the powerful connection we shared.
With love forever, Nikki
