Emanuel Turner's Obituary
Emanuel Paul Turner, 86, of North Miami Beach, born on September 13, 1927, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2014. Manny was born in the Bronx, New York, he raised his family in the home he built on Turner Drive in New Rochelle, N.Y., and lived in North Miami Beach for the past 40 years.
Manny is survived by his beloved wife, Merna, of 66 years and daughter, Dr. Jill Turner (Dr. Marc Gellman). He is predeceased by his son, Gary, parents Minnie and David Turner, and brothers Morty and Howard.
He was a life-long Yankees fan, growing up in the shadow of Yankee Stadium. He volunteered for the Merchant Marines during World War II, worked initially in the New York Jewelry Exchange, before receiving his Optician’s License. He was an active board member of the Dade County Opticians Association and President of the Cedar Glenn Condominium Association for 12 years. He and his daughter, Dr. Jill, worked together for over 30 years at Skylake Opticians. Manny was known for his wonderful sense of humor. Patients were always stopping by the Optical to hear his jokes. He is now a star in the sky shining down on us, making us all smile and laugh.
Funeral services will be held at Levitt-Weinstein, 18840 West Dixie Highway, North Miami Beach (305) 932-2700 on Sunday August 31 at 2:30, followed by internment at Lakeside Memorial, Doral.
