Estelle Berg's Obituary
Estelle Berg, 76, of Miami, passed peacefully at home on June 27, 2017 after a long battle with cancer. Estelle was born November 8, 1940 in the Bronx, New York, daughter of Louis and Sylvia Chevelier, and moved to Miami in 1956.
Estelle attended both Bronx High School of Science and Miami High School, graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Miami in 1961, and achieved an MA from Emory University in 1962. Another 1962 landmark was the beginning of her 54-year marriage to Paul Berg. Estelle taught English at Miami Edison and Southwest High Schools, and Humanities at the University of Miami before Paul asked her to combine her writing skills with his graphic design talents, and the result was the evolution of a full-service advertising and marketing company, Creative Directors, Inc., where they worked together for 40 years.
Estelle’s positive outlook, charm and intelligence served her well, as she made friends wherever she went, particularly enjoying living in Providence, Rhode Island during summers for the past seventeen years. She considered herself a lucky woman who had a wonderful life full of adventure, art, travel and books. She will always be adored by her family, and leaves behind her husband, Paul; son Andrew Berg and daughter-in-law Cassie; son Joseph Berg; daughter Karen Vasta and son-in-law Paul; six grandchildren, Rachel, Lucas, Adam, Samuel, Rebecca and Nicolas; and sister Myrna Wohl and brother-in-law Ronald.
Burial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, June 29th at Mt. Nebo/Miami Memorial Gardens, 5505 NW 3rd Street. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Miami Cancer Institute at Baptist Health South Florida.
