I first met Esther, my father's cousin, at my wedding. She gave us a service for 12 set of dishes, which became our Passover dishes, which pleased her to no end. My husband and I were invited for dinner, and we became fast friends. When my son was born, I would often walk over to her house to visit. Her dog, Brandy, was a favorite pet. As my son got older, he became enamoured with her soft toilet seats. We took her home from her sister Bella's house once when Bella was ill and let her stay over. She always called things like she saw them and was never one to be intimidated. We both missed our visits when she moved to Ft. Lauderdale to help care for another sister. We visited her in her beautiful apartment when we were in Florida. We would keep in touch by phone every so often. How upset was I when I called to wish her a happy Rosh Hashona to find out that her phones were disconnected. With a heavy heart, I called the lobby of her condo, to be told she had passed away 3 weeks ago. I will miss her and our talks. They don't make 'em like that anymore. RIP
