Ethyl Cohen Spector's Obituary
SPECTOR, ETHYL COHEN, born in (who the hell cares), raised in NYC, transcended this world too soon. Ethyl moved to Miami Beach when she wed the love of her life, Sheldon Spector, who proceeded her in death.
As a wife, mother, grandmother, niece, cousin and friend Ethyl was celebrated for her passionate individualism and zest for life. She was an extraordinary and dynamic woman whose creativity was light years ahead of her time, known for creating iconic masterpieces whether it be centerpieces for her charity balls, wedding and birthday gifts, costumes or PTA Thanksgiving baskets. She was the "Queen of Ribbons, Bows & Themed Parties”.
“Mother”, as known by most, loved people and was adored by her customers who patronized the various family businesses she had the privilege of being involved in. Those included Sheldon’s Catering, The Toast Restaurant & Sheldon’s Drug Stores.
She devoted more than 40 years of her energy, talent & creativity as a founding member of the Deed Club, which supported the National Children's Cardiac Hospital, The Deed Club Children's Cancer Clinic and the Deed Club Bone Marrow Transplant Center at UM/JMH; not to mention her many other quiet philanthropic endeavors.
She reluctantly left behind what she said were her greatest achievements and loves of her life: her children, Toby Spector, Becky (Larry) Herrup, Stacey (Mitchell) Hipsman; her grandchildren, Bradley, Lindsey & Allyson; Sister-in-law Marlene Cohen, her nieces & nephew; B.J., Bari & Jeffrey and their families and her closest friends, Myra, Mickey and Judith.
Contributions in celebration of Ethyl’s life may be made to: JAFCO Ability Center or JNF-Alexander Muss High School in Israel.
Services will take place at Levitt Weinstein 18840 W. Dixie Hwy, on Sunday, April 16th at 1:00 PM
