George Berliner's Obituary
George Berliner, 101, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home in Hollywood, Florida, on Monday, July 3rd, 2023. He is survived by his wife of 78 years, Lillian, also 101.
He was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1922 and was in the US Coast Guard during WWII. George and Lil married in June of 1945 and lived on Long Island, NY, until 1974. They then relocated to South Florida where they have lived since. While there, George was a partner at United Trust Fund for over 40 years.
During their 78 years of marriage, George and Lillian had 2 children, Linda Levine (Bruce) of Boca Raton, Florida and Fred Berliner (Alejandra) of Coral Gables, Florida as well as six grandchildren, Helene Shore of San Diego, California, Jennifer Paletz of Laguna Niguel, California, Larry Berliner of Miami, Florida, Matthew Levine of San Diego, Jessica Behrens of Denver, Colorado and Lindsay Kupfer of Coral Gables, Florida and eleven great grandchildren.
George was very proud of his Hungarian heritage and especially enjoyed Hungarian desserts. He loved meals filled with good food of all cuisines and drink as well as traveling with his entire family by cruise. Each year for their anniversary, George and Lil would take the entire family on a cruise exploring different parts of the world. Locally, George was well-known in his favorite restaurants. He leaves behind a legacy of love for his family, for travel and of fun.
George was very patriotic and believed very much in America and in the American flag. Anyone who cares to make a donation in George’s honor can be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation (www.T2T.org) or any other Veterans organization of your choice.
