George C. Leposky's Obituary
George C. Leposky, of Hollywood, Florida, age 82, passed away June 2, 2025, of natural causes. He was the son of Howard C. Leposky and Florence Leposky (Goldenberg). He leaves behind his wife Rosalie E. Leposky (Kahn), their daughter Marjory E. Leposky, their son Edward D. Leposky, a daughter in-law Tiina Leposky (Parviainen), and two grandchildren, Sylvia N. Leposky and Jacob J. Leposky, and three felines, Charlie, Moni, and Sammy.
George was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1943. He graduated in 1964 from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, with an MA in Political Science and was a Fellow from 1967 – 1968 in the Advanced Science Writing Program within the Graduate School of Journalism at Columbia University in New York. His career as a journalist, technical writer, travel writer and professor spanned six decades. George was a syndicated columnist, edited for magazines, newspapers and trade journals, and taught communications and business writing in a number of academic institutions, including the University of Miami and Florida International University. He was also a life-long conservationist, as evident through the collaboration he and his wife had with famed advocate for the everglades, Marjory Stoneman Douglas, and his noted video script for “The Best of Travel Florida/ State and National Parks, International Video Projects, Inc., 1989.
His daughter, Marjory, is following in his footsteps as an up-and-coming author of children’s books, and independent film and screenwriting. George will be missed but never forgotten.
His funeral will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at Beth David Memorial Gardens / Levitt Weinstein Jewish Funeral Home & Cemetery. The address is 3201 N 72nd Ave, Hollywood, FL 33024.
