Geraldine Elizabeth Kaplan Cohen's Obituary
Geraldine Elizabeth Kaplan Cohen z”l passed away quietly on September 7, 2022 in Miami following a lengthy illness. She moved to Miami with her family in 1956 from Webster Groves, Missouri. Her father, Charles, installed the first air conditioning system in Miami in a supermarket.
Geraldine was gracious, lovely, accomplished and successful. She obtained a degree in electrical engineering from the University of Miami with positions in her career at NASA, Eastern Airlines, IBM and Lockheed-Martin. She was an avid protector and shelterer of cats.
Geraldine was predeceased by her parents Charles and Bernice Kaplan. She is survived by her husband, Michael G. Cohen, daughter Samantha (Ari) Mendelson, (Tampa), grandchildren Leah, Eli, Daniel and Naomi Mendelson, brother Gale Kaplan (Campbell, CA), her sister Marsha Doyle, nephew Robert Doyle, brother-in-law Gerald (Deanna) Cohen (London), niece Abigail (Allom) Lewi, nephew Jonathan (Abigail) Cohen, and cousin Herman Ratner (Colorado Springs, CO) and longtime friends Ronnie and Barry White.
Graveside services will be held at 3:30 PM on Sunday, September 11, 2022 at Lakeside Memorial Park, 10301 NW 25th St, Miami, FL 33172. Shiva will be observed following services at Chabad of Downtown Coral Gables, 1827 Ponce De Leon Blvd, Coral Gables, FL 33134. Contributions to the Alzheimers Association and to Chabad would be appreciated.
