Gertrude Kaplan's Obituary
Gertrude Kaplan, a New Year's Babe, was born in Detroit, MI in 1918.
She married the late Seymour Kaplan and is survived by 4 children: Dr. David Kaplan (Dell), Dr. Robert Kaplan, Dr. Linda Kaplan, and Mayor Richard Kaplan (Lynn). She is also survived by her 7 grandchildren Joseph Kaplan (Christine Williams), Nicole Pollack (Jimmy), Rachel Kaplan, Taylor Kaplan, Andrew Kaplan, Benjamin Kaplan, and Chennah Kaplan; her 4 great grandchildren (children of Nicole & Jimmy Pollack) Jack, Samantha, Dylan, and Levi Pollack; her brother Julius Kaplan (Doris) and her extended family Brenda Kaplan and Denise Kaplan.
Gertrude founded a chain of 3 Beauty Salons in Detroit, MI. She retired from the public sector to raise her family of 4 in Southfield, MI. She was actively involved in charitable organizations. She supported women, children and Zionism. She passed away Friday morning, the second day of Rosh Hashanah, peacefully surrounded by her loving family. She was nearly a Centenarian.

In 1985, Gert founded the first Pioneer Women's chapter in the state of Florida and Boca Raton, FL, now called Penina Chapter of Na'Amat USA. Penina Chapter Slogan was "Help Israel Is Our Aim." Each letter of this slogan represented our core Philosphy as follows: How lack of Education Limits People; I am Strong and Ready Allowing Everyone to Live in peace; In Stability; Open Up Relationships; And Inspire Most with hope, opportunity, and possibilities. - Friends of the Isreal Defense Fund, Their job is to look after Israel. Ours is to look after them.
