Gladys Ruth Hofman Gelb's Obituary
Gladys Ruth Hofman Gelb, born on November 14, 1940 in Caracas, Venezuela passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2022 peacefully at her home in Miami Beach, Florida surrounded by her family, one day shy of her 82nd birthday. Gladys is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, Martin J. Gelb. Loving mother of Sonya Gelb (Ralph) Choeff, Andy Gelb and Elisa Gelb. Dear sister of Yvonne (Nisso ) Levy and cherished grandmother of Jonathan Choeff.
Gladys, a proud member of the Miami Beach community, supported many philanthropic organizations over the years, including Mount Sinai Medical Center where she served as president of the Cancer Lifeline along with several roles amongst the many organizations within the MSMC Foundation. She also gave countless hours as a founding member of the Love & Hope Ball Committee for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Institute and was honored to be chosen as one of the “Women of Substance” for Destination Fashion for the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis. Temple Beth Sholom and the Miami Greater Jewish Federation also held a special place in her heart.
Gladys maintained her lifelong friendships and relationships with the Venezuelan community, both here and abroad, and was loved and will be missed by all.
