Gloria T. Muroff's Obituary
Gloria Torem Muroff, a pioneering interior designer and dedicated philanthropist, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2026, at the age of 99. Born on June 22, 1927, Gloria moved from New Jersey to Miami at age 11. She attended Shenandoah Junior High and Miami High before studying at New York University.
Gloria began her professional journey as a drama teacher, later joining her family's business, Torem Fine Furniture. Her passion for design led her to found Gloria Muroff Interiors, establishing her as one of South Florida’s premier interior designers. She further shaped the local design landscape as the co-owner of the renowned 39 East showroom in the Miami Design District.
In 1953, she married Melvin Muroff, with whom she shared a beautiful life and raised three children. After Mel's passing Gloria had a second special person in her life, Al Cohen, with whom she shared many beautiful years together. Gloria was a passionate traveler, a master cook, and a legendary host who loved to entertain family and friends. Deeply committed to giving back, she was a generous philanthropist who founded and supported numerous charitable organizations throughout her community.
She is survived by her devoted children, Jan (Neil) Milestone, Jodi (Kevin) Goch, and Joseph Muroff; her cherished grandchildren, Alison Proman, Casey (David) Goch Benhaim, Amanda (Daniel) Goch Benhaim, Eric Milestone, and Jeffrey Milestone; and her beloved great-grandchildren, Sophie, Sadie, and Liv Proman, Shane Milestone, Ezra Benhaim, and Naomi Benhaim.
The funeral will take place on Sunday, July 26 at 11:00AM at Lakeside Memorial 10301 NW 25th St. Doral, FL 33172 with shiva to follow.
