Gloria L. Richmond's Obituary
Gloria Hertz Richmond was a devoted, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She passed away peacefully in Coral Gables, Florida on January 6, 2022 at age 99.
Born in the Bronx, NY on June 14, 1922, Gloria was blessed with a beautiful and versatile soprano voice. She attended the Professional Children’s School in NYC when she became a child radio star on The Horn and Hardart Children’s Hour. Later, she appeared on Broadway (under the stage name Toni Hart) in various musical productions including “Bloomer Girl”. The original cast album is still available online,
and her solo “Eliza Crossing the Ice” can be heard with Spotify. Gloria also traveled and performed around the country with nationally-recognized big band orchestras. Her true passion was opera, and she was also an accomplished pianist. Indeed, music was always an important part of her life.
She and her loving husband Milton Richmond spent 52 years together in Bay Harbor, Florida and Rancho Santa Fe, California.
She is survived by her beloved daughters Stephanie Richmond (Florida) and Ilene Richmond (California) as well as her three devoted grandsons, Jordan Richmond Bruck, Mark Richmond, and Trevor Richmond.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sophie and Harry Hertz, her sister Florence, and her husband Milton.
She was interred on January 7 at Mt. Nebo Memorial Gardens in Miami. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Chabad of Coral Gables, 1827 Ponce de Leon Boulevard, Coral Gables Florida 33134.
