Grettel H. Malka's Obituary
Benjamin and Grettel Malka were devoted in marriage and caring in parenthood. They have left us at the age of 74 and 53. His battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile.
Both were immigrants to this country. Benjamin being from the Holy Land, Israel and Grettel being from Costa Rica. They were proud of their new country as patriotic as any American could be. Although Grettel was a convert to the Jewish faith, she enthusiastically learned our customs and traditions to be a devout Jewish family as was Benjamin. His father Edmond S Malka and grandfather Rabbi Schlomo Malka were scholars of our Jewish faith and they followed in this rich lineage.
Benjamin practiced in the medical field as a Registered Nurse for over thirty years. Grettel was a housewife. She took care of their twin sons, Daniel and Gabriel. When disaster struck and Gabriel fell sick, my mother and father embraced God’s will and took meticulous care of Gabriel. He sadly passed in 2017.
They are both to be remembered as kind souls at the Levitt Weinstein Memorial Chapel where they are buried with Gabriel. As Benjamin always used to quote Proverbs “Many plans are in a man’s heart , but the LORD’s decree will prevail”
