Harry Gurwitch's Obituary
Gurwitch, Harry a long time resident of Miami Beach, passed away on August 30. He was born in Prichard, Alabama in 1934 to Rebecca Ripps Gurwitch & Isaac Gurwitch, graduated from Vanderbilt University, attended University of Alabama Law School & was a member of AEPi. Harry loved Gulf Coast seafood & his family. He was predeceased by his brother Bert Gurwitch & is survived by his wife of 59 years, Shirley Gurwitch of Miami, & his sister, Phyllis (Herbert) Wizig of Houston, Texas. He was most proud of his daughters Lisa Gurwitch & partner Tom Sharpe Jr. of New York, Annabelle Gurwitch of Los Angeles, former son-in-law Martin Fleisher, son-in-law Jeff Kahn, grandchildren Max Fleisher & fiancée Lauren Stewart, Brian Fleisher, Ezra Kahn, & many nieces, nephews & cousins. He was affectionately known as Big Daddy by the children in the family & Handsome Harry, by his wife, Shirley. In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates charitable gifts to aepi.org/foundation & miamijewishhealthsystems.org (Rabbi’s fund). A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 16th, 10 a.m. at Rechtshaffer Synagogue, Miami Jewish Health Systems, 5200 N.E. 2nd Avenue, Miami.
